Five for Friday -- Oct. 7

This has been a fun week.  I found a lot of fun activities to work with many of the students at school who need to practice with number and letter identification.

 1.  This first activity is a combination of two things I found on Pinterest.  I have a group of K4 students who do not know their numbers to 10.  This was a good starting point to six.  Cover that Number is from Mandi Moore and the pencil cards is from another activity from The Kindergarten Connection. I liked the pencil cards because they have nice big numbers on them.
I made these number squares to use with the children.  We played bingo with them.  I liked that the numbers are in order.   The children were able to go back and count on when needed.
2.  I made a word book for my grand-daughter.  We are working hard on getting her to talk.  The book contains photos of her things.
3.  As I am growing older I find that I need a little bit of help to remind me and help me focus on the tasks I need to get done around the house.  I am working on putting together a Life Organizer. It is a notebook with all the things I need to remember throughout the year.

4.  The past two weeks I have been reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.  It is a wonderful book about life of an Irish family around the 1915 in Brooklyn.  It is a heart-warming story a young girl.  I would give this book 4 stars.

5.  I started name bags with the four year olds this week.  I have been adding a new idea each day.  The kids love the bags and I already see some improvement.

Thank you Kacey from Doodle Bugs for hosting Five for Friday.

  1. Yes, I probably need a LIFE ORGANIZER book too.
Love the counting ideas. I have some 5 year olds who don't know the numbers to 10!
    Keep practicing. Thank you.
