Teacher Post --- Favorite Subject

My favorite subject in school has always been Reading.  Even when I was a little girl I loved to read.  I remember sitting on my bed as a young girl on a Saturday reading my Nancy Drew books that I purchased with my allowance.  It was so wonderful to read what I wanted to read and not what was assigned.  Now as an adult I still love to curl up in my bed and read.  

So it is no surprise that I love to teach children how to read.  I love to collect children's literature.  I have made reading the focal point of my classroom.  

I have tons and tons of books......books that the children can take home....

and books that are just for the classroom.

A great day for me is finding a new book that gets the children excited about reading.  

Teacher Week -- Organizing Meals for the Week

I plan my dinners just like I lesson plan.  I have a binder divided into weeks. At the moment I have six weeks of menus organized.

The front section is quick and easy recipes that I can make under twenty minutes. This is for the days when I get home too late to cook or I just don't feel like cooking a whole meal or I want one of my quick and easy favorites.   

Then the next six weeks are set up with a cover sheet.  The cover sheet contains the meals for each day and the grocery list for the week.  

Then behind each divider I have all the recipes for the week. It makes things easy to find.  

I am trying to find at least two to three crock-pot recipes for a week.  I try to make them on the weekend.  We tend to have at least enough food leftover for one more meal.  That is enough to take us through the week and I generally only need to cook one more meal. 

This system is working well for us at the moment.  Here are two of my favorite crock-pot recipes.

Welcome to Teacher Week 2015 with Blog Hoppin.  

Today is Monday and I have FIVE Fun Facts to share with you about myself.  

1.  I am addicted to graphics.  I love graphics.  I think I own a million.  I think I am the best customer of the graphic designers.  I use graphics for everything and I think I purchase graphics weekly. Doodles First is the newest designer I found and in love with these designs.  (I secretly wish I had a talent for drawing because I would love to design my own graphics.)

2.  I enjoy bike riding.  I don't get to ride as much as I would like because of health reasons but I try to ride as much as possible.

3.  Decorating is another passion of mine.  This year my youngest two children moved out and I turned one of the bedrooms into an office/craftroom for myself.  I use the word craft room loosely because more of the things I make are for my classroom.

The other bedroom I turned into a large walk in closet for myself.

4. Family is everything!   I enjoy my family very much.  Not a day goes by when one of my children stops by and I love every minute of it.  I try real hard to get my school and house work done when no one is around so when they stop by I can sit and talk to them.

5.  I am a hooked on Starbucks Iced Passion Tea Lemonades.  It is about the only other thing I can really drink besides water.  I can only drink it once a week.  So it is my Friday treat after work.
