First Grade Prayer Book

Each year I have my first graders write prayers towards the end of the year in their journals.  Five of the prayers are picked to read over the morning announcements.  All the prayers are typed and illustrated in black and white outlines.  Then I make a copy for each student to create a prayer book for all the students.  Then they color it for a keepsake.

They also color a copy for me as well.  I make a class book with that copy.  It is a favorite in our classroom.

I Am Moving

My years of teaching kindergarten are officially over.  I had all these wonderful plans of documenting my last few weeks of all the last times …..however I was just overwhelmed with so much to do.  Report Cards, Portfolios, volunteer gifts, student gifts, and room mom gifts and packing up to move out of my classroom of eleven years was too much to deal with.   Oh I forgot to mention, my house is experiencing a little bit of remodeling as well.

Next year I will teach First Grade, Again!  I taught first grade eleven years ago however I am sure things have changed.  I will be sharing my adventures at my new blog:  The Very Busy Classroom.  I hope you will join me.

I will leave The Very Busy Kindergarten blog up for teachers who would still like to read the ideas.  Thank you for reading and commenting here.  It has been a lot of fun sharing with all the other kindergarten teachers.

Friday Favorites -- End of the Year Ideas

My goal this weekend is to put together an end of the year gift for my students.

Our last theme was Under the Sea, so I am thinking of something fishy for my gift.

Here are some of the fun ideas I found on pinterest.

This fish idea is so cute and it is a freebie at  Melissa's TPT store.

This was just a picture I found on pinterest, I would have to make it myself.  Hmmmmm sounds like work.

Here is another freebie at What's the Buzz in First Grade TPT.

I found yet another one that is free by Anna at Crazy for First Grade.

Now I have some decisions to make.

I think I may also give them a pail and shovel to hold their gifts.  I  found this great blog filled with wonderful ideas.

16 School Days of Kindergarten Left......

This is a sign that my days in kindergarten are numbered…..

Today I took home my first bucket of math manipulatives to wash.

Do you wash all your manipulatives and toys at the end of the year?
Or is this just my cleaning sickness kicking in?

I only have 16 school days left and I need to organize my room for a new teacher.

I will be swapping rooms with my partner teacher …..
long story short……
my present room is the kindergarten room…
her room is a better first grade room.

So three things need to happen:
1.    I need to pack up my stuff to move to first grade.
2.   I need to pack up kindergarten stuff to move to the other kindergarten room.
3.   I really need to de-clutter and simplify.  Eleven years in the same classroom, you can imagine all the junk valuable teaching things I have collected!
