Egg-citing Activities for Easter Week

It's Easter week and I am looking for some quick and easy activities to do with my students.  For the little fours I work with I made the simplest activity......matching alphabet eggs.  It's so easy.....write a capital letter on one side of the egg and the lowercase on the other side.

The boys absolutely loved the activity.  They had so much fun.

For my advanced math students I created some story problems with and without grouping.   I cut out the problems and put them in the eggs.  The boys picked out the eggs from the basket and opened the eggs and read the problems and solved them in their math journals.

You can put any story problems in your eggs.  Or if you want I have my challenge problems available on my TPT store.
I set up this packet up several ways.  There is a power point in case you want to do the problems as a whole class.
Then I typed up all the problems on a worksheet so the students could work these out.  Or you can cut them apart and put them in eggs and they can put the answers on the recording sheet.

It's up to you.

Easter Cards

Easter Cards for the Elderly and Parents

We made our Easter cards this week and they are very cute.
I went with the idea I found on Pinterest from Minted.com a couple weeks back.  I posted this idea on Favorite Friday ideas because I thought it would be perfect and easy to make in kindergarten.  I was right.

We took strips of patterned scrapbook paper and glued them onto precut paper eggs.

Then we turned the eggs over and trimmed off the excess paper.

We glued the eggs on the cards and added some Easter grass.

I found this nice tag from  Happy Home Fairy to put inside the cards.      .

We glued the eggs and some Easter grass on the card.  I think they turned out cute.    The children enjoyed making the cards.

Then we created this wonderful art project I found on

Easter Cards for the Elderly

Each Holiday my little ones make two cards:  one for their parents and one for the elderly of our parish.  It is hard each year to think of new ideas for the cards.  Thanks goodness for Pinterest.  I found this idea  on Katherine Marie's Photography Blog.  What makes this project so special is that each chick turns out unique.  I love the ones that hatch out of the eggs.  Super Cute!

This is the little poem I found at BethanyRoberts.com.  I retyped the poem so the children could color in the letters.

Egg-cellent Class Book

This is one of my favorite lessons to teach. I like to teach this lesson during the week before Easter because my little ones are thinking a lot about eggs and jellybeans.

I purchased this big book from Scholastic years ago.  Before I read the book I have my little ones create a web on animals that hatch from eggs.   (Sorry I forgot to take a picture :( )

We read the book and then we add more animals to the web.

During small group time we work on this class book page.  Each child cuts out the outer egg shell.

Then we fasten the egg shells to the book page and the children pick a creature for the page.

The children enjoy reading this book because it is a flap book.

Easter Ideas for Students

This is a collection of ideas I love from other blogs that I think would make great gifts to give to my students at Easter Time.
