Egg-cellent Class Book

This is one of my favorite lessons to teach. I like to teach this lesson during the week before Easter because my little ones are thinking a lot about eggs and jellybeans.

I purchased this big book from Scholastic years ago.  Before I read the book I have my little ones create a web on animals that hatch from eggs.   (Sorry I forgot to take a picture :( )

We read the book and then we add more animals to the web.

During small group time we work on this class book page.  Each child cuts out the outer egg shell.

Then we fasten the egg shells to the book page and the children pick a creature for the page.

The children enjoy reading this book because it is a flap book.

  1. Adorable! I am on the hunt for a good nature to do with the entire Kindergarten in our school for a special day that we have called, "Habitat Day". Pinning this because I know my kinders hatch eggs, so this may be something I use!
    Thanks for sharing the idea!

  2. This is a really cute class book. I love to make books with my kinders and I know they would love it. Thanks for the idea. Our chicks are arriving on Monday and we are launching our egg study this week.
