Reading Sticks

Last year my classroom theme was frogs.....so when I gave the students reading sticks in their home reading bags I was so excited to find frog pointers at the Learning Shop.

But this year my theme is owls and there were no owl pointers at the Learning Shop.
However the other day I saw this cute idea on Pinterest.........Duh.......make your own owl pointers.

I already had the two things I needed to make this happen.....

It was so simple.................................just stick the owl stickers on the stars..................now I have
owl pointers.

I love the combination because I call our reading words "star words."

I give each student a gallon size ziploc bag with his/her name on it  and Q1 Reading Bags (Q1means quarter 1----each quarter we fill up the bag with new books) and his/her pointer to practice reading.........
