The Dramatic Play Area--Cafe

The Kindergarten Café

This is the final dramatic play area for the year,
The Crusty Crab Café.

We are learning about the ocean for the rest of the year so in the dramatic play area we have a seaside café.

I put up some dolphin posters so it looks like the children are eating in one of the aquariums where you are surrounded by fish.

There are menus made out of folders.

There are crabs and lobsters.  My favorite thing in this center in the crab dishes and cups I found a few years ago at Target.

There are fish tablecloths and napkins.
There was a cash register however it broke.

Please...Please....Please vote for my class on Facebook again today.  We are trying to win an ipad.  Thank you, Sue.

Pet Clinic

All Paws Kindergarten Pet Clinic

Here is a picture of my pet clinic last year and you can read the post here.
I found the cutest idea on Pinterest so I made some adjustments to the clinic again this year.
The kids love the changes!!

First I found this old tool bench sitting in the kindergarten closet left over from the toy resale.  I repurposed it to be the counter at the pet clinic.  I picked up some tins from the dollar section at Target to sort the supplies.

Then I found some old bins and an old cart in the closet and made that the animal cages.

My dear little sweetie, Lola, a former student, donated some of her stuffed animals for the center.

I made some labels for the bins using graphics from KPM Doodles and some free images from Google.

Let the Fun Begin!

P.S.  I'm off to ENJOY my SNOW Day!   It is my first one this year!

Pilgrim Plantation Center

Look at the AMAZING Pilgrim House my new paraprofessional made for the dramatic play area.

It looks wonderful.  My little ones are very excited about playing in there as well.  If you want to read more about what is inside, READ THIS POST from last year.

If you would like to make your own Pilgrim house it is made out of foam board, wrapping paper tubes cut in half and hot glued to the board.  The tubes are painted with brown paint.  The roof is just yellow paper.

Kindergarten International Space Center

This idea is not an original idea by any means I am sure that many of you have a rocket dramatic play area during your space unit.  Each year when I do this I rename the rocket for the space shuttle that is next to go up in space, but thanks to NASA, I don't know what to do this year.  So I am just going to name it the International Space Station.

I try to add a little something new each year.
This is the view from inside the space station.  I don't think the real space station has a big picture window but we will have to go with it.

There are many activities to do inside the space station.
These little guys are playing in the glove boxes.  One has magnetics in it and the other has moon sand.  I want the children to get the idea that the astronauts are scientists and that they work on experiments when they are up in space.  They need to work in the boxes to keep their experiments from floating away.

I made this poster with the planets a couple of years ago.  I have the ordinal numbers on labels and the planets are on velcro.  I mix up the planets and the children need to put them back in order. It is funny to hear them each day wonder who messed up the planets.  They think the leprechauns did it.

The children can also write and draw about their mission.
If you would like a copy of the form:  Click Here
I purchased years ago several items from Lakeshore Learning that I included in the ISS as well.

I have some jet packs made out of soda bottles and the kids wear white t-shirts as space uniforms.
There are back packs to collect "moon"rocks in
and old gloves to wear as well.

The rest is up to the kids' imagination!
