The Busiest Center in the Classroom

This is the busiest center in my classroom right now.....The Pilgrim House.  I know it does not look like much but the pilgrims did not have much.
You may be wondering .........What are the children busy doing in there???

Starting at the top left......

1.  The kitchen supplies are simple.....mainly playdough......The pilgrims made lots of breads, muffins, and pies.

2.  The Learning board....The pilgrim children had to learn how to write on little chalkboards.

3.  The pilgrims read the bible and the children also learned how to read by memorizing parts of the bible.

4.  The kitchen garden...The children worked in the summer garden...they planted food in rows.

5.  The fireplace...where they had to cook their food and heat their homes.

6.  The sewing .....pilgrim women did lots of sewing.  They had to make everything by hand.

7.  There are pilgrim hats and bonnets for the children to wear.

My dream one day is to find a Little Tikes Log house for this unit......
